Invention of Analgesic and Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Ethanolic Extract of Mimosa Pudica Linn Leaves.

Abstract

The ethanolic extract of the leaves of Mimosa pudica at the doses of 200 and 400mg/kg was tested for anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. The extract produced dose dependent and significant inhibition of carrageenan induced paw oedema.The analgesic activity was found to be more significant on the acetic acid induced writhing mode^l (p<0.001) than the tail flick model (p<0.001). So the extract inhibits predominantly the peripheral mechanism. The presence of flavonoids in the ethanolic extract may be contributory to its analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity.
